1200 Days of Life Without Alcohol Check In, What to Expect

Of all the things in life that are hard to explain without doing it, life without alcohol may be one of the hardest to convey. If we follow the saying that life is more about the journey than the destination, that might help as removing alcohol from ones life definitely starts a journey like no other. As a reader here, its likely you’ve consumed more than you wish you had and there have been periods of abstinence for you. Maybe a couple days or longer. Thinking back to after 48 hours, the biggest change being the change in sleep and reintroduction of dreams to my life, it really emphasizes how after a few years of that new brain activity how we change. The dreams continue and intensify! Yes, we are put face to face with the demons of our past, abusive relationships, lost love ones, our mistakes and bad choices. We feel sadness and pain but we are so much stronger that we start to grow through it for the first time, moving more and more towards becoming who we are now, even in the present moment. We wake up without a cloud over our thinking each morning and our perception of the world is that more crisp. We start to really live, figuring out who we are beyond materialism, ego and self satisfaction, moving towards having a higher purpose and getting real fulfillment out of life.

Physically, we operate as better human machines and that continues to evolve regardless of age. Our internal organs work better! We can run longer, faster, heal faster, see better. Mentally, we become more calm, wiser, patient, generous and with a tendency towards being a positive contributor to society. It becomes less difficult and truthfully, there’s less to talk about relative to it. Its more about just being, being content regardless of the situation, with a mind and body capable of experiencing life, not just the short spurts between drinks but all the time!.
